#68 Danny Savery

Danny Savery was born into a Law Enforcement family. Danny's grandfather, father, and brother were all in Law Enforcement, and Danny wanted to be a part of that tradition growing up. As a young man, he spent 15 years in Law Enforcement, first as a Corrections Officer then as a Police Officer. Along the way, Danny trained in various martial arts but once he started Jiu Jitsu and dove into its rich complexities he knew that Jiu Jitsu was his true calling.

One day during training Danny injured his foot and needed to go to the hospital. He was driven there by his Professor and mentor Andre "Dedeco" Almeida. At one point Danny said to Dedeco that he wanted to do this (Jiu Jitsu) every day. Dedeco responded you know what Danny you can. And that is when Danny began his transition from the only job he had ever really thought about into becoming a full-time Jiu Jitsu practitioner, instructor, coach, and academy owner.

In 2007 Danny started training with other Law Enforcement buddies in his garage, and soon others began to join in. Danny's crew soon had a location outside of his home and his academy kept growing and growing. During these years Danny had to learn the ins and outs of running a business. Up until this point in his life, Law Enforcement was the only job he really knew how to do. Having the same dedication he had to Law Enforcement and Jiu Jitsu Danny learned all he could about academy ownership and his business began to flourish.

Now Danny's academy, Danny Savery BJJ and Martial Arts Academy is a huge success. Offering BJJ, MMA, and Kickboxing, for kids and adults. Danny also hosts The BJJ Collaborative on YouTube and instructs at seminars and popular BJJ Camps.
